The Olds Fair & Rodeo kicks off August 7 and runs through August 9 in Olds, Alta. and includes three performances of professional rodeo action. Each performance starts at 6 p.m., so head on down to the Olds Fair Grounds, spend the day exploring all the exhibits, livestock shows and entertainment offered, then head on over to the grandstand to watch members of the Canadian Professional Rodeo Association compete in the saddle bronc riding, bareback riding, bull riding, tie-down roping, steer wrestling and ladies barrel racing, plus team roping.
The Dawson Creek Stampede is also taking place this weekend during the 87th annual Dawson Creek Exhibition. The rodeo performances at the “Greatest Show in the Peace” feature all six major rodeo events, as well as team roping, novice saddle bronc riding, novice bareback and boys steer riding. Each performance kicks off at 1:15 p.m. at Collins Exhibition Park in Dawson Creek, B.C. The Dawson Creek Stampede is the second last stop on the Wrangler Canadian Professional Rodeo Tour before the Tour Finals in Calgary, Alta on October 2-4, 2009.
The top 10 point-getters in each of the six major events at the completion of the 11 Tour rodeos will qualify for the Tour Finals in Calgary along with the top two contestants from each event in the Last Chance Rodeo Tour. The top two Tour finalists will earn a chance to qualify at the Canadian Finals Rodeo this November in Edmonton.
